The wind gave a playful tug a traveller's coat tail. Following the tail up, led to a pretty pattern, running up with article of clothing; the familar shape of a vine.
He glanced over the plains, the blades of grass dancing to the tune that the skies played.
Sighing deeply he let himself fall back and lay down in the grass. "This is nice. Maybe I'll take a nap,"he thought aloud, smile growing on his lips. Remaining relaxed, he enjoyed the weather, starting to drift off to sleep.
It could have been minutes or hours, but the moment was cut short.
"Oh my goodness! Oh no no no!" a female voice cried loudly as it grew nearer to the no-longer sleeping young man.
He glanced up to see a flustered looking girl with airy green hair.
"Oh my goodness! Don't die sir! I'll help you!"she cried, kneeling next to him.
"Huh? Die? What?"he muttered drowsily.
The girl, obviously not paying attention to him, pulled out a handful of bandages and healing tools from the bag at her side and started to apply them where she could.
"What the?! What are you doing?!"he shouted, springing up and bounding away.
The girl looked hurt, nears tears in fact, blinking blankly. "But...I thought! I thought you were hurt in battle!" she cried, sniffling.
"You were trying to help?" he looked confusedly to the bandages already tied around his arm. "Well...thanks?"
"Really? You don't mind?"She asked, looking relieved.
"Yeah! Really! Its alright! You were just trying to help,"he smiled in a friendly manner, picking himself up and taking a seat next to her. "I'm Riku, how about you?"
"I'm Kazaki. Nice to meet you,"she spoke in a harmonious voice.
She brushed her back behind her ear, only to have it fall in her face again.
"Nice to meet you too,"Riku blushed slightly, unable to stop himself from looking the girl over.
Easily, she was beautiful, angelic in fact.
Kazaki smiled. "Umm...so what were you doing out here?"
Riku looked thoughtful then sighed in his reply. "I was just taking a break."
"I'm sorry to interupt."
"Its ok. I don't mind at all! Its just fine!" he laughed nervously, considering the girl seemed easy to upset.
"Oh...Umm...I was trying to find any survivors..."Kazaki looked down to the grass, frowing.
"Survivors? Of what?"Riku grew curious.
"The attack. Monsters sprang up from Hell they say...I wanted to help anyone who might have been left out here. This plain was a safe place for travellers to rest but...I guess not anymore,"Kazaki grimaced, like someone had pricked her heart.
"Was someone you knew there?"Riku asked slowly, almost regreting his words after they'd split out his mouth.
She shook her head. "No. Not a single one. But...when I heard, I couldn't stand there doing nothing. I wanted to help."
"Even if the monsters came back?"
"Even if they came back."
Riku watched her carefully, taking in the sympathetic look in her eyes, the determined grip she had on the roll of bandages in her hand.
"Then...I'll help you,"he spoke suddenly, his heart beating faster.
"Really? But, you might get hurt too,"Kazaki frowned, looking very concerned.
"And you could have alone! Don't worry about me! I'll be your guardian alright?"Riku offered with a geniune smile.
Kazaki returned the expression. "Thank you very much Mr.Riku."
