A gentle breeze blew through grass before the heavy armored boots stomped on it. Many clinking noises insued as an envoy of armored warriors marched toward a walled village. Only one warrior was not covered in armor and was a bit shorter than the others. He had spiked brown hair, bright blue eyes, and an arrogant face. He wore a brown tunic with long, baggy brown hunting pants and an equipment sash over his front. He tapped one of the soldiers. "Mind telling me why I need an escort to come here?"h e asked, obviously annoyed.
"You've been chosen to protect and travel with The Princess on her journey of salvation. We can't allow you to even get hurt before the journey." the soldier responded, not even looking at the boy.
Sighing and running a hand through his hair, the boy stood up on his toes and looked over at a group of people walking. Dressed in woodland garbs, the pointed ears poking from their hair marked them as elves. The two envoys approached the gates of the village, two leaders stepped forward and gave the command to halt. Two gatekeepers poked their heads out over the walls and scanned the two groups before retreating back over the edge. Twin gates slowly opened as the two envoys started walking forward again. The breeze swiftly changed direction and blew into the village, followed by the elves, and then the warriors leading the rear. The two groups immediately walked side by side to the village square where a large tent was set up atop a raised platform, with a crowd gathered at the bottom. A priest stood at the edge of the platform. Lifting his arms wide to the envoy and the crowd of villagers gathering he bellowed, "Step forth ye that wish to protect The Princess of Mana."
The boy with the azure hair and a pretty elven girl with dark blue hair, wearing simple woodland clothes, stepped forward. Looking at the girl, the boy grinned. The grin was knocked off his face though when the priest backhanded him.
"Respect this honorable day, it marks the beginning of the quest for salvation. Now present yourselves with honor." As soon as the priest finished talking though, the wind picked up speed and whirled in a circle before dispersing to leave eight black cloaked men with bamboo hats and one teenage boy. He bowed in apology, long raven-colored hair, hanging down and touching the ground as the priest nodded at him. The elven girl flashed him a quick grin before stepping forward to the priest and twisting her fingers into her sternum while bowing.
"I come as a representative of the woodland elves of Hierm. I am to show that we offer protection and companionship to le princesse**." she said, twisting her arm back into a comfortable position and standing. "I am Christy Sorciere***" she finished stepping aside to the right. Next the boy with the brown hair swaggered towards the priest and did a bad imitation of the elven girl, his flexibility being nowhere near hers.
"I'm here cause I was forced out of bed and told that I'm supposed to come here to protect some little girl, so she better at least be hot-" he began, before the priest slapped him again. "Of course I'm here as a representatativer* of Uruban" he finshed standing up and saluting, mockingly. "Here to protect De Koningsdochter****, is Shiroryuu***** Ryan" he grinned before the last boy shoved him aside and walked past the priest towards a white unmarked tent. He did an imitation of the elven girl's bow, and while he wasn't flexable still did it with a show of honor. "I am Kurotaki no Ken******, the representative of the village of Ketsueki*******." he said, as people gasped at the insolence he showed, by bypassing the priest. "I am here to protect Za Hidenka********"
He stood up as the priest reached into his robe and withdrew his hand, silver flashing through the hair at the one that had disrespected him.
In case you haven't noticed, the language of the village they're in is english, which is also the predominant language in the story for obvious reasons
The languages of certain places, from ancient times however, does not adhere to the universal of english. There are multiple ways to say these words, since translation is different between different languages.
I simply chose one way to say the words, you may find inconsistencies later in the story, but I should make a note of these
*le princesse - is french for The Princess, which is the language spoken by the woodland elves
**Christy Sorciere - should mean Christy Witch in french, I'm not confident about my knowledge of the french language
***representatativer - Ryan being ignorant and not pronouncing english correctly
****De Koningsdochter - dutch for the princess, the city of Uruban speaks dutch
*****Shiroryu - This is japanese for white dragon which is at odds with Ryan coming from a dutch speaking area
******Kurotaki no Ken - Black Waterfall of Heaven in japanese, the language spoken in Ketsueki
*******Ketsueki - The first village with an actual meaning, the name means Blood
********Za Hidenka - Japanese for The Princess
