I could feel the breeze blow my hair as it whipped against my face. I swatted it away, remembering how Shiku used to love it…that is when it was silver. I shook my head. I don’t need to think about her right now. Was what went through my mind as I stepped down the hill and walked into the village. I was feeling pretty nostalgic, this being the place of my birth and I went into the inn that my aunt owned when I left. My cousin that sat behind the counter stiffened when he saw me then examined my face.
“Is that little Fukyuu over there?” he asked, grinning.
“Yeah it’s me” I responded, placing my hand on my hilt in a relaxed position.
He ran over and clasped my forearm in a friendly embrace and I did the same to him.
“You’d never believe it, Fukyuu. We thought you’d never come back. First your mother comes and stays in your house the-“was all I heard before I bolted out of the inn, anger flashing through me. That woman…she is going to dare to come back here after all this time? I thought angrily, ripping the door to the house opening and leaping in.
“Fukyuu?” she asked, standing up and tilting her head. “my you’ve changed”
I angrily grabbed the hilt of my sword to pull it out, but before even touching it, she was standing on my chest, horizontally as though gravity had no existence upon her. I gripped my sword and gaped at the strange spectacle before the jumped off, launching me through the air. Then before I touched the ground or the wall I felt the pain of a blade running through my gut. I focused for a split second and turned into my soul form. She grinned and jabbed her hand into my chest, shattering my soul and causing everything to go black. Suddenly the world came back into view as she brought my soul back together and pulled me into my physical form. Nausea broke over me in waves as I swayed and she grinned.
“Did you really think that a Soul Snatcher could hope to even lay a finger on an Unknown? Even in your wildest dreams, such thoughts should never cross your mind.” She said, giving me a warm motherly smile. “You should remember the pain that will come from that.”
My vision grew fuzzy and finally black out as she slid her sword into that scabbard she always holds in her left hand.
